Jesus clearly set the steps to becoming and then developing as a Christian. He first called his disciples to simply “be with him” (Mk. 3:14). He called his followers to believe, and repent, which mean turn from your old ways, do a 180 and turn to His ways. Believers were then commanded to be baptized in the name of Jesus. Jesus' last words on earth were to tell his disciples to “go and go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Mt. 28:19-20)
